single-issue politics
   The concentration on single issues of popular concern and interest such as abortion, animal welfare and the abolition of foxhunting, rather than on the advancement of broad programmes. Many single-issue pressure groups have developed in recent years. Some, like that which launched the Snowdrop campaign, have disappeared once their goal is attained. Preoccupation with individual issues is appealing to campaigners, who can often create or articulate moral concern and attract media interest for their cause.
